A heartbreaking tragedy has occurred at Breman-Dunkwa in the Central Region, where a tricycle rider identified as Yaw Afriyie, popularly known as Batman, reportedly set his wife and six children ablaze, leading to their deaths.
According to confirmed reports, the incident happened around 12:00 am on October 31, 2025, following a heated misunderstanding between the couple. Sources claim that Afriyie asked his wife to check on their children, who were already asleep in their room.
Moments after she entered, he allegedly poured petrol on his wife and the children, including a grandchild, locked the room from outside, and set it on fire. Neighbours who rushed to the scene were unable to save them due to the intensity of the flames.
After executing this horrific act, Afriyie reportedly committed suicide by hanging himself, leaving the community in shock and disbelief.
Residents of Breman-Dunkwa have described the scene as one of the most disturbing tragedies witnessed in recent times. Authorities are currently investigating the matter to uncover additional details and circumstances surrounding the incident.
