49-Year-Old Fisherman Arrested for Assaulting 13-Year-Old Girl in Apam
A shocking incident has been reported from Mudford, a suburb of Apam in the Central Region of Ghana, where a 49-year-old fisherman identified as Kofi Nyan, popularly known as Wofa Samuel Armah, has been arrested for sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl.
According to reports by Crime Check TV Gh, the disturbing act was captured on video and witnessed by several onlookers in the area. In the video, the suspect was heard telling the victim,
“Me w)w de ate ka. One hour biaa y3 GHC 200,”which translates to, “I will Knack you in exchange of the money. Every hour costs GHC 200.”
Nyan allegedly accused the young girl of stealing GHC 800 from him and claimed that the assault was meant to “repay” the amount she supposedly took. Despite the victim’s continuous cries and pleas for him to stop, Nyan insisted on continuing, stating that each hour of the act would cost GHC 200 until the full amount was settled.
Shockingly, some people around the scene were seen encouraging his actions, while others appeared visibly disturbed but did not intervene.
Arrest and Investigation
Police in the Central Region have confirmed that Kofi Nyan has been arrested and is currently in custody to face legal proceedings. Authorities have also launched a manhunt for four other accomplices who fled the scene after the incident.
Victim Receives Medical Care
The young victim has been taken to the St. Luke Catholic Hospital for medical examination and treatment.
Social welfare and child protection services have also been notified to provide psychological support for the traumatized girl.
